One of the easiest ways to learn about wine is to attend a few wine tastings. Many local retailer host weekly or monthly wine tastings featuring a variety of wine. Check your local newspaper or the retailers online site for dats and time. Many charge a small fee and offer light appetizers.

You might be a little intimidated at first by the wine varities and proper tasting etiquette. It is easy to hang back during the first few pours and observe how your fellow tasters behave. If you are lucky enough to be the only taster or one of a few do not be afraid to ask questions about the different wines and varietals.
